Since 2020, the Great Regional City Challenge Inc (GRCC) has provided over $650,000 in cash and support to 43 different projects across Launceston.

In 2026, we are proud to open our donation options to include Bitcoin — in partnership with Get Paid In Bitcoin (GPIB), a local Launceston business building tools that allow any Australian working at any business in Australia to receive a portion of their after-tax wages in Bitcoin.

This integration means you can now direct your Bitcoin wages — or part of them — straight to GRCC, helping fund the next generation of Launceston community projects.

A note on Bitcoin and long-term value

Bitcoin is a volatile asset — its price can move significantly in the short term. GRCC is not a Bitcoin investment vehicle, and donations made in Bitcoin carry the same price risk as any cryptocurrency holding. That said, GRCC is genuinely excited to explore how Bitcoin donations can add long-term value to their perpetual funding model. By accepting Bitcoin, GRCC gains exposure to an asset that has historically appreciated over multi-year periods — potentially amplifying the impact of every dollar donated well into the next decade of Launceston community projects.

Any employee of any business can participate — you don't need to work for a specific employer or be based in Launceston. Our platform is used by employees from businesses across all segments of the economy, all over Australia. If you receive a wage or salary, you can nominate a portion of it to convert to Bitcoin each pay cycle and direct it to GRCC.

At this point in time, donations made through GPIB will be registered as anonymous donations, and therefore will not be tax deductible during the initial phase of donations. We'll be working on a solution to add tax deductibility and will contact you should we arrive at a successful solution.

The Great Regional City Challenge Inc (GRCC) is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), dedicated to funding local projects that create lasting impact in Launceston, Tasmania.
